2015/2016 had an incredibly dry winter, so the snow-free season began especially early. I headed up there with Eve in late April, at a time that was absolutely perfect. It was before Eklutna Glacier began to melt, so the creek flowing out of there was especially easy to cross. As there was plenty of snowfall at the base of the glacier, it made accessing the overlook a lot easier.
Otherwise, getting to Eklutna Glacier is rather difficult. I headed back here one single week later with a big group of friends, and the creek had tripled in size, and we had to wade over it in multiple sections. As we approached the glacier, the creek was so wide that we decided it wasn't worth the risk of crossing it.
